Why were there so many pedophiles in the Catholic Church from 1930-1980? Bella Dodd, baptized Maria Assunta Isabella Visono, was an Italian immigrant to the United States of America. She was a brilliant woman who attended university in the early 1920's and joined the American Communist Party and rose within its ranks.
Bella Dodd testified before the United States Senate in 1953 that the Communist Party was infiltrating all ranks of American society including Government, teachers, unions, media and religious institutions. Dodd was an organizer for the Communist Party USA from 1932–1948, and from 1944 to ’48 sat on the CPUSA’s National Council. She also served as head of the New York State Teachers Union. She was expelled from the CPUSA in 1949, and received back into the Catholic Church by none other than Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen in 1952.
In 1953, the House Committee on UnAmerican Activities received the testimony of Bella Dodd and a former Communist leader named Manning Johnson. Dodd swore before the Senate Internal Security subcommittee that there were a number of Communists in legislative offices in Congress and in a number of groups advising the President of the United States. She also testified to the Communist takeover of labor unions in the country and of her personal experience securing posts for members of the Party in the unions. Bella Dodd also wrote in a public affidavit that she was personally responsible for placing over one thousand men into Catholic seminaries, men who had no faith -- atheists, communists, and pedophiles -- all who became priests and later bishops and cardinals whose mission was the destruction of the Catholic faith. These men were promised access to young boys.
"In the 1930s we put eleven hundred men into the priesthood in order to destroy the Church from within. The idea was for these men to be ordained and progress to positions of influence and authority as Monsignors and Bishops. Right now they are in the highest places in the Church — where they are working to bring about change in order to weaken the Church's effectiveness against Communism. These changes will be so drastic that you will not recognize the Catholic Church."
Many of these were ordained and became pastors, seminary rectors, vocation directors, bishops and cardinals. Bella Dodd testified she did this work in the 1930's and into the middle 1940's. Those who became rectors and seminary professors and vocation directors and bishops then brought in the next generation of atheists, communists and pedophiles.
Mr. Johnson testified that he joined the Communist party in America in 1930, and remained in the party until 1940. Mr. Johnson became disillusioned with communism and left the Communist party in 1940. He called the Communist Party a tool to enslave and destroy the black man. In his testimony to the Committee on UnAmerican Activities, he identified the work of Communism to infiltrate religious institutions.
In the summer of 2001, Dr. Alice von Hildebrand, widow of famed philosopher Dietrich von Hildebrand, gave an interview to Latin Mass Magazine. In this interview, Dr. von Hildebrand mentioned conversations she and her husband had had with the former Communist, Bella Dodd. This is what Dr. von Hildebrand said in her interview:
“It is a matter of public record, for instance, that Bella Dodd, the ex-Communist who reconverted to the Church, openly spoke of the Communist Party’s deliberate infiltration of agents into the seminaries. She told my husband and me that when she was an active party member, she had dealt with no fewer than four cardinals within the Vatican “who were working for us.”
In May of 2015, Ion Mihai Pacepa, the highest-ranking defector from communism in the ‘70s, gave an interview to the Catholic News Agency, revealing that Liberation Theology (or Marxist Social Justice) was an invention of the Soviet KGB. Pacepa was a General for Communist Romania’s secret police.
So, what we have here are four, completely independent testimonies from individuals working inside Communism, giving testimony to the Communist infiltration of the Catholic Church through various venues. Manning Johnson indicated an infiltration of Catholic seminaries and parishes. Bella Dodd testified that Cardinals in the Vatican were actually working FOR the Communist party and Dr. Alice von Hildebrand confirmed her story. And Ion Pacepa, a former KGB general, said that the KGB created Liberation Theology and spread it through the Catholic Church.
There are too many testimonies on the record of the Communist infiltration of America to count. Some are former Communists, such as Dodd and Johnson, and others were individuals pretending to be Communists in order to inform American authorities to the subversive activities of the Communist party in the United States, such as Herb Philbrick and Matt Cvetic. One common thread in ALL of the testimonies is that Communists were adept at creating civic-minded organizations whose sole purpose is to convert people to Communist ideals.
