Stefan Halper. Swamp Creature For Both Parties. Taking Down JFK, Nixon, Reagan & Trump.

As we suspected, the FBI informant who illegally spied on the Trump campaign for Obama was Stefan Halper, who oversaw a CIA spying operation for George H.W. Bush in the 1980 Presidential election. Halper is an old George H.W. Bush CIA "dirty tricks" guy. Figures. Halper was working with the bipartisan swamp creatures and the FBI/CIA to take down Trump. He was paid nearly $300,000 by the Obama administration & is believed to have been placed there by Obama, Clapper & Brennan. Halper has allegedly been paid $1.5 million by the US Government since 2013 for services rendered.
Four decades ago, Halper was responsible for a long-forgotten spying scandal involving the 1980 election, under the direction of former CIA Director and then-Vice-Presidential candidate George H.W. Bush. He got caught running a spying operation from inside the Carter administration. It's been forgotten that there was a big controversy in 1980 because the CIA was so openly agitating to get its former director, George H.W. Bush, into the Oval Office. That was led by Stefan Halper's father-in-law, top CIA official Ray Cline, who put Halper on Bush's campaign.
The plot involved CIA operatives passing classified information about Carter’s foreign policy to Bush to ensure he knew of any foreign policy decisions that Carter was considering. Halper, through his CIA work, has extensive ties to the Bush family. Few remember that the CIA’s perceived meddling in the 1980 election – its open support for its former Director, George H.W. Bush to become President – was a somewhat serious political controversy. And Halper was in that middle of that, too. HW Bush is the same guy who took down Nixon with help from John Dean, the FBI, the CIA and the Washington Post. HW Bush also worked with LBJ and the CIA to take down JFK. Halper worked with HW Bush at the CIA during the Cuban Missile Crisis. This is why I despise the Bush-Clinton crime cartel.

They Slaughtered 16 Kindergarteners in Britain For Gun Control. Now Violent Crime is Skyrocketing.

Want to know how they got Britain to turn in their guns? They slaughtered 16 kindergarteners. If you want to understand what the end goal for America really is, read on. If you want to have a real debate about gun control, you need to know this story. They are using the same playbook.
On March 13, 1996, in the small Scottish town of Dunblane, a man shot to death 16 young children and their teacher, at an elementary school, before turning a gun on himself.
The gunman, Thomas Hamilton, lived in the town. On the day of the massacre, he drove into the school parking lot at about 9:30 in the morning. He cut the cables on a telephone pole and then entered the school, carrying four handguns and 743 rounds of ammunition and wearing shooting earmuffs. He fired a couple of shots as he made his way to the school gym, where teacher Gwen Mayor had just taken her kindergarten students for their physical education class. Hamilton entered the gym and immediately opened fire, wounding physical education teacher Eileen Harrild and teaching assistant Mary Blake and injuring and killing several children. Harrild and Blake took shelter inside a cupboard in the gym, bringing as many children with them as they could, as Hamilton continued his fusillade.
When an adult and an older student tried to look inside the gym to find out what was going on, Hamilton fired toward them and then left the gym, firing toward the library cloakroom and into a mobile classroom, where the students lay on the floor at their teachers’ instruction. Hamilton then returned to the gym, dropped the gun he had been using and chose another one, which he used to kill himself. The entire attack took place over a period of less than five minutes. Mayor and 15 children were killed outright, and another child died in the hospital. A further 15 people, the vast majority of them children, were wounded.
A motive for the massacre was never established.
After the Dunblane massacre, handgun control became highly political. Handgun ownership was increasing in the 1990s and sports shooting, the only legitimate reason for owning a handgun, was a fast growing sport. Yet even members of the elite country-sports lobby were troubled by newcomers, keen on “combat style” shooting, entering the sport. These tensions opened up after Dunblane. The government commissioned Lord Cullen to run an inquiry into the incident. He recommended cautious compromises (storing firearms in secure armouries or police stations). These were initially rejected as “unworkable” by shooters, but they were ultimately overwhelmed by the strength of public feeling. Arguing that Britain’s developing gun culture was responsible for the tragedy of Dunblane, the Snowdrop campaign presented a 750,000 signature petition to the UK parliament.
The government of the time, under the premiership of John Major, was split, reluctant to confront pro-gun Tory backbenchers, although Tony Blair’s New Labour was waiting in the wings, ready to seize the issue. The then home secretary Michael Howard initially wanted to accept Cullen’s compromise. But the Scottish secretary, Michael Forsythe, MP for Dunblane’s neighbouring constituency of Stirling, with one of the smallest parliamentary majorities, had made commitments to bereaved family members. Eventually the prime minister supported Forsythe and backed the handgun control proposals. The Conservative government legislated to ban higher calibre handguns in 1997. After the New Labour government swept to power that May, it added .22 calibre handguns to the prohibited list.
By March 1999, the National Audit Office reported to parliament that 165,353 licensed handguns and 700 tonnes of ammunition, had been surrendered, involving an estimated compensation cost of £95m. In the aftermath of the massacre, residents of Dunblane initiated the Snowdrop Campaign (named for the spring flower that was in bloom at the time of the mass shooting) to seek changes in British gun laws. The campaign’s petition gathered some 750,000 signatures, and a letter written by the mother of one of the slain children was printed in two national newspapers. In February 1997 Parliament responded by passing a law banning private ownership of handguns above .22 calibre, and in November 1997 the ban was extended to all handguns. In addition, security requirements for gun clubs were expanded.
Nobody expected what happened next. An 105% increase in recorded handgun crime occurred between 1998 and 2003. It opened up a whole new gun market in the UK comprising non-firing “realistic imitation” firearms (hitherto largely unknown in the UK), BB guns, and high-powered air weapons. The rise in handgun crime had nothing to do with the handgun ban and everything to do with the changing patterns of supply and demand in the illegal firearms market. In the face of some of the world’s toughest gun control laws, criminal ingenuity worked to create new supply routes into Britain to meet criminal demand, even as local intelligence-led policing has sought to suppress the demand for firearms in “gang affected” communities. Criminals don't obey gun laws. The authorities in the UK are now considering how to prepare for new threats from gun terrorists, such as the Paris style “mass casualty” attacks. Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary has recently published a hard-hitting report recommending further important changes to British firearms licensing, for instance by requiring better information sharing between police and community mental health teams and a more rigorous vetting of firearm license applicants.
Today, violent crime in England and Wales is rising at an accelerating pace, according to police figures showing a 22% increase in knife crime and 11% rise in gun crime. London's murder rate has grown by 40% over the past three years and now surpasses New York's. Robberies are way up and, even more disturbing, are committed while people are at home because criminals know that people aren't armed and can't protect themselves.
"There is no single cause, but there has been a big spike in both gun crime and knife crime across London," Parliamentarian David Lammy, who represents Tottenham, told the BBC. "Certainly my constituency finds itself at the epicenter of that. There are real issues about a lack of resources."
Arab gangs roam the streets on mopeds and throw acid in pedestrian's faces and slash at shoppers with machetes. London's ERs have so many knife attacks, the floors are covered in blood and burn surgeons are overwhelmed. White vans, filled with armed terrorists, run down pedestrians and then jump out to shoot and stab those that are still alive. Suicide bombers plant so many devices around popular spots that London has eliminated trash cans and placed barricades everywhere.
How has Mayor Sadiq Khan responded? He is out confiscating crochet needles and screw drivers and cautioning unarmed citizens to run and hide if they face armed criminals. The police will come and help you. Right. Good luck with that. People, NEVER EVER GIVE UP YOUR GUNS.

Trump Defunding Planned Parenthood If They Don't Separate Abortions From Family Planning.

The Trump administration has announced they will defund Planned Parenthood if they do not separate abortion from family planning and contraception. Women’s health clinics that provide abortions or refer patients for abortions will be cut off from Title X, the only federal program dedicated to paying for birth control. The new rule will NOT prohibit all counseling about abortion but will require a “physical as well as financial separation” between entities that receive Title X funds and those that provide abortions.
Why is this necessary? Because Planned Parenthood uses Title X funds to attract low-income patients for contraception and STD screening and then literally promotes abortion sales contests to push abortions on women, for profit. They harvest organs from late-term fetuses, without the mother's consent, and sell them for $200-$1000 apiece. They do not offer ultrasounds, adoption counseling or other tools to help vulnerable mothers make sound decisions about pregnancy. Planned Parenthood's main focus is to profit from the abortion of America's children. Period. America must find a better way to ensure sound family planning. Abortion should not be the first and only choice.
Planned Parenthood is the country’s largest abortion provider. They perform over 40% of America's nearly 1 million abortions each year, or roughly 400,000. If Planned Parenthood wants to continue to receive Title X federal funding for contraception and family planning services, they will need to physically and financially SEPARATE abortions from Title X funded contraception and family planning. Last year, America aborted one out of every 5 babies. If we don't repopulate ourselves, someone will do that for us. Think about that.
Title X provides federal funding for contraception, STD screenings, and other reproductive health care to low-income people. Title X does not, and has never, paid for abortions. Federal law prohibits any government dollars from paying for the termination of pregnancies. Organizations like Planned Parenthood often use Title X grants to subsidize birth control, STD screenings, and other reproductive health services for low-income patients who may lack health insurance coverage.Launched in 1971, Title X was meant to fulfill President Richard Nixon’s promise that “no American woman should be denied access to family planning assistance because of her economic condition.” Planned Parenthood currently uses Title X funding to provide contraceptives to millions of low-income women.
Title X has grown steadily over the past 40 years, from a $6 million budget in 1971 up to $286 million in 2017. Some 4,100 clinics use Title X funding to provide low-cost or free contraception to their low-income patients, typically those who lacked health insurance coverage.
Planned Parenthood has a monopoly in the industry and exists in many places where other family planning clinics don’t. There are 103 counties in the United States where Planned Parenthood is the only provider of publicly funded contraceptives. In an additional 229 counties, Planned Parenthood serves the majority of women who are low-income and qualify for government help paying for birth control.

Early Reports on Texas Shooting. Another Deep State Op.

UPDATE: The probable cause report shows that the boy turned himself into the police AT THE SCHOOL AT 8:02AM and waived his rights. Hours before the media reported one fairytale after another. Proof that this entire shooting was engineered for the gun grabbers.

EARLIER: Meanwhile, the lamestream media is burying the news about the fact that Obama spied illegally on the Trump campaign, the Mueller investigation is falling apart, the Stormy Daniels' fairytale is being exposed, that the Michael Flynn plea was bogus and he is innocent, that Trump is defunding Planned Parenthood, that the IG report is calling for criminal prosecution of Obama's FBI and DOJ on the Hillary investigation, and more. The Deep State needed to slaughter a few children to distract your attention. President Trump on school shooting: "This has been going on too long in our country. Too many decades. My administration is determined to do everything in our power to protect our students, secure our schools, and keep weapons out of the hands of those people who pose a threat to themselves and to others. Everyone must work together at every level of government to keep our children safe."
Here is a summary of all the early reports from local media on the shooting. FYI. Sounds like the shooting started after the fire alarm was pulled. Sounds like another Deep State Op.
Trump knows that when Joe Biden made schools gun-free zones in 1990 he was doing it to push gun control. Since then we've had countless false flag shootings at our schools, malls and other gun-free zones to force a repeal of the 2nd amendment. The UK slaughtered 16 children at the Dunblane school in 1996 to force citizens to turn in their guns. It worked. Emotion overwhelmed people and they willingly gave up their guns. Now law-abiding citizens in Europe are defenseless against criminals who not only have guns, but knives, acid, machetes and bombs. Gun violence is up and London is now more deadly than New York. Do not buy the con. Never ever give up your guns. That's what this is ALL ABOUT.
UPDATE: At arraignment, the boy looks drugged and like he has gained 50 pounds since these photos. Seroquel? Also, they discovered a journal and notes on his cellphone that detailed intentions to carry out the attack on the school and then take his own life. Yet, he willingly turned himself into law enforcement after the shootings.

UPDATE: So the media says the Texas shooter is a crazy, demented loner who nobody liked, and was bullied relentlessly, and sat in his basement plotting to kill people, yet just last October he was a star defensive tackle football player? And, the Galveston County Daily News listed Pagourtzis as an honor student at Santa Fe Junior High School in 2013. Pagourtzis’ parents are Antonios Pagourtzis and Rose Marie Kosmetatos and his father is a fan of the NRA.
In March 2018, Santa Fe High School was put on lockdown after reports of shots fired at the school, reports CW39. Freshman Gary Winthorpe told the station, “We were sitting in class and we heard an announcement that said lockdown. This is not a drill. It was scary and with what happened in Florida it made this so much more real.” Another, Lila Ismail, said, “I was really scared thinking about what happened in Florida because we were just sitting there and we didn’t know what was going to happen to us.”
UPDATE: They’ve identified the Texas high school shooter as Dimitrios Pagourtzis. The media say he was apparently highly bullied and not well liked (only 4 followers on his Instagram account) although a local Santa Fe football team website congratulated him on his great game last October. Watch how the reports will show he’d been known! Within minutes, all his social media accounts were taken down. Sounds just like Parkland, huh? They caught him within minutes just like Nikolas Cruz. False flag. The FBI knew. They either facilitated or engineered this for the gun grabbers. The shooters even all look alike. You can take it to the bank.

UPDATE: Santa Fe Police Chief Jeff Powell said: "There have been explosive devices found inside the high school, and in the surrounding areas adjacent to the high school." Local media reporting that suspected shooter walked into classroom, said "surprise" and then continued firing. Not yet confirmed, by the police. Students who witnessed Friday’s shooting at Santa Fe High School in Texas claimed that the shooter was wearing a black trench coat and had a sawed-off shotgun.
Damon Rabon, a Santa Fe student, said that he followed his teacher out of the classroom and saw the shooter firsthand. “We heard, like, five more bangs, and then the kid came out [with] a black, like, trench coat on, a sawed-off shotgun with a pistol grip, and I think something sharp on his chest,” Rabon described. “And then he turned, and instead of looking our way, he just grabbed his backpack and went right back into the art room, so, at that point, we knew it was an active shooter.” (A kid uses the term "active shooter." ODD) Rabon said that after he saw the shooter, he and his teacher went back into the classroom and closed the door. His teacher reportedly pulled the fire alarm in order to alert authorities, as Rabon said people in the class did not have cell service in order to call 911. Another student, Avery Garza, told HLN that he also saw the suspect in a black trench coat and with a sawed-off shotgun. Garza said his friend witnessed the shooter pulling out a pistol and shooting a girl in the head. "We know who it is, but unfortunately I cannot give the name out. He was wearing a trench coat, I think it said USSR on it,” he added.
UPDATE: Police say the assailant was armed with an AR-15 style rifle, a pistol, a shotgun and pipe bombs. Officers inside encountered a bloody mess in the school. Evidently this guy threw pipe bombs all in there. We don't know if any of them went off." Yesterday, David Hogg, said he had a chilling premonition this would happen. Trey Lemley, 17, said he was in the school's first floor art room when a shooter walked in, his sister, Courtney Lemley, 19, said. Trey dropped his phone and barricaded himself inside one of the room's two closets, she said. When he left, he saw three bodies and pools of blood. Junior Liberty Wheeler, 14, was in class when she heard five shots ring out near the art room.
Her teacher told them to run toward the theater department's storage room, where they hid for 45 minutes before being escorted outside by the SWAT team.
"You could smell the gunpowder that came from the gun," Wheeler recalled as she was escorted out of the building. "We were all scared because it was near us." Paige Curry, a junior at the school, said "I was sitting in my classroom and I heard very loud booms and I didn't know what they were. I was confused but after I heard screaming, I figured out what they were, got up immediately and started to run. I almost ran out of the school but I hid instead with the other students. I was there for maybe 30 minutes I was on the phone with my mom the whole time. They found us and escorted us."
EARLIER: Angelica Martinez, a 14-year-old student, said she and her schoolmates were being evacuated at one point "like it's a fire drill." We were all standing (outside), but not even five minutes later, we started hearing gunshots. And then everybody starts running, but like the teachers are telling us to stay put, but we're all just running away. I didn't see anybody shooting, but like (the gunshots) were kind of spaced. I heard about four shots."
Another witness who spoke to KTRK also said she heard an alarm. She didn't specify if that was before or after the gunfire she described in the art class. An armed person walked into an art class at the school and began firing what looked like a shotgun. She said she couldn't describe the shooter. "I didn't look. I just ran," she said.(What do you mean you can't describe the shooter when he came into your classroom. You can describe the gun as a shotgun but not the shooter?)
Another student, Dakota Shrader, told CNN affiliate KPRC that she heard gunshots only AFTER hearing an alarm in the school. "I was in the history hallway, and as soon as we heard the alarms, everybody just started leaving following the same procedure as a practice fire drill," Shrader said, breaking into tears. "And next thing you know, we just hear three gunshots, loud explosions, and all the teachers are telling us to run."
One witness reportedly said she saw a girl get shot in the leg. One student said that fire alarms went off and students began to leave their classrooms and file outside before the shots were heard. Witnesses described students running from the school as they heard gunshots; they also described hearing an alarm at the school, though the sequence of events wasn't immediately clear. Witnesses said that the shooting began between 7:30 and 7:45 AM CST, in an art class.
One student told Houston television station KTRK in a telephone interview that a gunman came into her first-period art class and started shooting. The student said she saw one girl with blood on her leg as the class evacuated the room.
"We thought it was a fire drill at first but really, the teacher said, 'Start running,'" the student said. The student said she didn't get a good look at the shooter because she was running away. She said students escaped through a door at the back of the classroom. Authorities have not yet confirmed that report.
Tyler, a senior at the school, told KHOU-TV that his friend saw "some kid" with a gun. A fire alarm was pulled. When teachers and students were outside, shots were fired, Tyler said. "As soon as the alarms went off, everybody just started running outside," 10th-grader Dakota Shrader told reporters, "and next thing you know everybody looks, and you hear boom, boom, boom, and I just ran as fast as I could to the nearest floor so I could hide, and I called my mom."
Tyler said he ran behind some trees, heard more shots, jumped a fence and ran to a car wash. He said he saw firefighters treat a girl who had a bandage around her knee and may have been shot.
Aerial footage from the scene showed many students lined up outside the school, as law enforcement officials took some of their bags. What appeared to be a figure covered in a white sheet could also be seen outside one of the school's exits. A male suspect, believed to be a student, has been arrested in the shooting at Santa Fe High School, about 20 miles outside Galveston. A second person -- also believed to be a student -- has been detained as well.

Shooting At Trump Hotel In Miami. What's With Florida. Home of Gun Control Lobby?

A man who hates President Trump AND Colin Kaepernick opened fire in the lobby of the Trump Doral Hotel and Golf Club in Miami around 1:30am and injured five police officers. Jonathan Oddi, 42, spewed anti-Trump rhetoric in the lobby, draped a flag over the counter, and started yelling and screaming about Trump and Kaepernick. Staff called 911 to report that shots had been fired in the hotel lobby. The shooter was wounded after exchanging fire with responding officers.
“This subject came in removed a flag from a flag pole at the rear of the complex and brought it into the hotel lobby and draped it over the counter and began to yell out anti-President Trump rhetoric. These officers did not hesitate for one second to engage this individual who was actively shooting in the lobby of the hotel. He had an American flag that he took from the resort and draped over the counter. We’re going to take it from there and see what his real motives are and how far we get into that point, and then we’ll have that discussion with the FBI to see how far this goes. This was a definite attempt to lure officers into the lobby of that hotel.”
In total, five officers were wounded during the encounter. One officer reportedly received a broken wrist. Oddi has been taken to Kendall Regional Medical Center.
In October 2017, Oddi posted a meme to Instagram that accused former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick of not being a “hero.” Oddi goes on to say that “Colin worries he doesn’t have an NFL career and kneels for popularity.” Oddi was angry that President Trump was going to invite Kaepernick to his race summit.
During the shooting, Oddi is accused of shouting “anti-Trump rhetoric.” According to his LinkedIn page, Oddi owns a business named Pegasus Minerals and Gemstones in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale-area and also in Tucson, Arizona. Oddi says that he studied business and the travel industry at Universidad del Salvador, a Jesuit university in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Oddi goes by JonnyMyami on Instagram and writes on his page, “God is preparing you for your destiny.”
The Secret Service has said that there were no protectees in the region of the golf club at the time of the shooting. The shooting is being investigated by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office. Along with those agencies, the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security responded to the scene in the immediate aftermath of the shooting.
Officials are not investigating the shooting as an act of terrorism. Way to go, media. Keep spreading racial hate. Also, another shooting in Florida? First Pulse. Then Ft Lauderdale Airport. Then Parkland. Now this. They are really trying to push gun control and turn the state blue, aren't they?

Google's "Selfish Ledger" End Purpose Is To Replace Humans With Robots

A short Google video called "The Selfish Ledger" was recently uncovered. It supposedly reveals the dystopian end goal behind all the data Google collects about you and me. “The Selfish Ledger" is Google's vision for how it will use “total data collection” and social engineering to modify human behavior on a global scale. After reviewing the video, my take is even more disturbing. I believe that the "data" Google collects in the "ledger" is designed to provide Silicon Valley with a global library of data about human emotion and the human decision making process. Why? To replace humans with robots.

The film was made in 2016 by Google X (now just X) head of design Nick Foster and fellow researcher David Murphy for internal use at Google. In it, Foster envisions a future where massive amounts of data are collected on users and stored in what he refers to as a “ledger.” The ledger contains a user's actions, decisions, preferences, movements, and relationships. The ledger is something that could conceivably be passed on to other users, much as genetic information is passed on through the generations.
The ledger actively seeks to fill gaps in its knowledge from every user. The system would be able to plug gaps in its knowledge and refine its model of human behavior — not just your particular behavior or mine, but that of the entire human species.
“By thinking of user data as multigenerational, it becomes possible for emerging users to benefit from the preceding generation’s behaviors and decisions. We will mine the database of human behavior for patterns, sequencing it like the human genome, and making increasingly accurate predictions about decisions and future behaviours. As cycles of collection and comparison extend it may be possible to develop a species-level understanding of complex issues such as depression, health, and poverty.”
Yep, Google wants to use our data to study and catalog humanity so they can replace us. This isn't simply an internet interaction. Google catalogs your every action, your every word, your every text, voice mail, email, viewing habits, shopping habits, eating habits, and your every move through Google maps. They know when you get out of your car. They know when and where you eat dinner. They know how you respond to every event. Now Google wants to predict and control your next action by using your devices to control and question your next steps. Everyone is tied to their phones. They will use them to create a duplicate of each person. Then replace that person. Makes perfect sense if you are intent on robotics. Scary stuff.

FBI Transcript Proves Nikolas Cruz Framed By Addict Who Wanted His Inheritance

OMG. Here's the FBI transcript of the phone call they received from Roxcanne Deschamps, the drugged up woman who tried to claim guardianship over Nikolas Cruz to get his million dollar inheritance, after his mother died. Roxcanne is bankrupt, well known to the Broward County police as a scammer, and lives in a trailer with her child and another meth addict. Nikolas hated her and left her house and said she was crazy and after his money. He moved in with the Sneads who said he was a kind, quiet, autistic boy.
So Roxcanne called the police, after Nikolas moved out, and ranted on the phone about him to get this story about him on the record before the shooting, one month later. This is the SOLE SOURCE of all those claims the media have been reporting AS FACTS. For all we know, she could have made the accounts herself since the boy was so mentally delayed. Read it please. Further proof that this boy is innocent and framed by Debby Wasserman Schultz, the FBI and the Broward County gun grabbers. BTW: A judge just ruled that Broward County committed voter fraud by destroying ballots in the last election. Broward County is the king of corruption.

Somalia's Biggest Artist Jailed For Welfare Scam

An African asylum seeker who came to UK ‘fearing for his life’ scammed hundreds of thousands in taxpayer benefits after secretly returning to Somalia. Mohamed Qoomal came to the UK 15 years ago claiming he feared for his life in his native country. But in 2013 he sneaked back to Somalia and had his pension credit payments from the UK wired to him there. He also let a friend live rent-free in his taxpayer-funded flat in London.
The Somali con artist is actually a famous music icon known as the Somalian Phil Collins. Mohamed Qoomaal has performed to sell-out crowds worldwide, including Wembley in 2006 and 2012, in a career spanning three decades. Pension credit payments were wired to him in Somalia while a pal lived rent-free in his taxpayer-funded home in London. He was jailed for 15 months.
The respected Awdal Media website said: “UK court sentences our biggest artist to 15 months. This guy is huge in Africa. No one can believe the news about his imprisonment.” Now I know where the kids got the idea to scam Minnesota. From guys like this.

Somalis Behind Massive Daycare Fraud Scheme in Minnesota. $100 Million Per Year Taxpayer Scam.

UPDATE: The Minnesota Senate has called for an emergency hearing tomorrow on the MASSIVE daycare fraud scheme in the Somali community, exposed by a Fox 9 investigation, that is costing Minnesota taxpayers over $100 million a year and may be funding ISIS terrorists in Somalia. Governor Dayton says he is aware of the problem and has hired more staffers:
"It is really disgraceful, so I appreciate the report and very important visibility. It's something we have been aware of and working against, but there is a lot more that needs to be done," Dayton said.
State lawmakers have scheduled an oversight hearing Tuesday with the Health and Human Resources Reform Committee to discuss what the Fox 9 investigation revealed. They have asked the Attorney General, the DHS Inspector General and members of the Dayton administration to come testify.
EARLIER: Wow, Minnesota, I hope you're sitting down for this one. Millions of dollars in carry-on cash in suitcases fly out of the Minneapolis airport every week. But, why? Daycare fraud. Daycare fraud is costing Minnesota taxpayers as much as $100 million a year. According to public records and government sources, most Minnesota daycare fraud is perpetrated by Somali immigrants.
How does it work? Where does the money go? The story begins at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP), where mysterious suitcases filled with cash have become a common carry-on. On the morning of March 15, a man took a carry-on bag through security that was packed with $1 million in cash. Travelers can do that, as long as they fill out the proper government forms. This happens almost weekly at MSP. The money is usually headed to North Africa, the Middle East, Dubai and points beyond. In 2015, investigators documented $14 million in carry on cash. By 2016, it had mushroomed to $84 million. Then last year, $100 million. So, last year alone, more than $100 million in cash left MSP in carry-on luggage. The same thing is happening in other cities, like Seattle.
The money is sent via "Hawalas." Hawalas are businesses used to courier money to countries that have no official banking system. Some immigrant communities rely on Hawalas to send funds back to their home countries. However, investigators discovered some of the money was being funneled to Hawalas in the region of Somalia that is controlled by the al Shabaab terrorist group. When the money arrives in Somalia, whether it's intended for legitimate purposes or not, al Shabaab terrorists demand a cut. Tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of remittance payments are from immigrants who are on US government assistance. How could they possibly come up with such big bucks to transfer back home to Somalia?
It’s welfare fraud through daycares. To better understand the connection between daycare fraud and the surge in carry-on cash, you have to look at the history of this crime. Daycare fraud is on the rise in Minnesota. Daycare businesses are gaming the system to steal millions in government subsidies meant to help low-income families with their childcare expenses. In order for the scheme to work, the daycare centers need to sign up low income families that qualify for child care assistance funding. Parents check their kids into a fake daycare center, only to leave with them a few minutes later. Sometimes, no children would show up. Either way, the center would bill the state for a full day of childcare.
Then the daycare give kickback payments to parents who are in on the fraud. Fozia Ali, while she was being sworn in as a member of the city of Hopkins Park Board, was also under investigation for daycare fraud, wire fraud and theft of public money. Hopkins??
State and federal agents had already raided Ali’s daycare center in south Minneapolis. The business was suspected of billing the government for more than a million dollars’ worth of bogus childcare services.
“We found records that she was collecting a significant amount of money for a much larger number of children than were actually attending the center. We are aware that some of the funds went overseas, what she was cashing out, money from the business."
Investigators analyzed Ali's cell phone to track her activities. She took a two-month trip from Minnesota to Dubai and then Kenya, staying at times in $800 a night hotel rooms. She used an app on her phone to bill the state of Minnesota for childcare services while she was out of the country. Ali pled guilty to the daycare fraud and in March started serving time in a federal prison.
"We believe that there's a scope of fraud out there that we really need to get our arms around and ensure that those dollars are going to kids that really need them. There are 10 daycares currently under active investigation for fraud and dozens more are considered suspicious."
According to public records and government sources, most are owned by Somali immigrants. When asked if the Department of Human Services has any evidence to suggest this looks like organized crime, HHS responded, "There's a common pattern in how a lot of these are carried out, but beyond that, not something that I would directly categorize as organized crime."
Sources in the Somali community say it is an open secret that starting a daycare center in Minnesota is a license to print money. The fraud is so widespread they said, that people buy shares of daycare businesses to get a cut of the huge public subsidies that are pouring in. This crime is spreading. Fraudsters in other states are now using the Minnesota playbook to rip off millions of public dollars meant to help kids.
Reminder. This is just one fraud scheme. Daycare fraud. What about all the other Government assistance fraud schemes going on? Imagine the dollars.

More Section 8 Housing For Somalis Proposed

After his talk at Cedar Riverside, with City Council member Abdi Warsame, who represents the Somali community, and just announced a new ordinance to expand housing for his low-income renters, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey suddenly wants to increase the budget for affordable housing to $50 million, a nearly 500% increase. He says Minneapolis has lost 15,000 affordable units since 2000, pricing low-income families out of the city. How have they been lost? Right now, the city of Minneapolis spends about $11 million to $13 million a year on affordable housing. But in 2019, Mayor Jacob Frey hopes to boost that number to $50 million, a increase of almost 5X. Hmm. I wonder if Jacob is being pressured by certain groups in Minneapolis to provide them with significantly more subsidized housing. Thoughts?
Here are the highlights of his plan (could somebody tell me what this means in English and what these plans will do to improve Minneapolis?):
1) Put a greater focus on production of units that are accessible to renters earning <30% AMI.* This means units that rent from $495 for an efficiency to $820 for a 4-bedroom unit. Those figures INCLUDE utilities.
2) When focusing on development for low-income renters, it is important to consider who is low income. In Minneapolis, people earning <50% AMI are more likely to be people of color. This strategy will help reduce racial disparities in housing.
3) Maximize market growth through inclusionary zoning with TIF and/or other City incentives.
4) Calibrate to market conditions to continue to promote growth and development.
5) Consider phasing and/or geographic targeting.
6) Provide rental subsidies to renters earning <30% AMI or developers in exchange for longer affordability.
7) The City of Minneapolis could partner with the Minneapolis Public Housing Authority or nonprofit partners who already have the program model and infrastructure to administer rent subsidy programs.
8) Pilot project for direct subsidy to renter in the Promise Zone to support the success of school children.
9) Provide incentives for current owners of naturally occurring affordable housing (NAOH) to preserve affordability.
10) Create a rental rehab program for small scale properties (<20 units).
11) Increase funds for a NOAH acquisition fund.
12) Support acquisitions by land bank, mission driven housing providers, and public agencies (such as MPHA)
13) Emphasize the renter-focused function of Regulatory Services.
14) Hire more housing inspectors.
15) Establish Tenant Remedy Act or Rent Escrow Actions—appointment of administrators and/or withholding of rent for repairs.
16) Improve/reform tenant rental screening.
17) Support master leases by nonprofit partners to provide housing to people with high barriers.
18) Increase ability to expunge unlawful detainers (evictions) from people’s record when renters were evicted without cause.
19) Prevent displacement from eviction or after sale of property.
20) More funding for legal representation for those facing eviction.
21) Establish “notice to quit” rules that require landlords to provide notice to tenants.
22) Work with the County to reform emergency assistance.
23) Explore just cause eviction regulations.
24) Explore requirements for a notice of sale, plus 90 day tenant protections.
25) Double or triple vacant City lot development.
26) Work with Hennepin County to also leverage tax forfeited property.
27) Enhance down payment assistance.
28) Increasing assistance amount to $10,000 per household at <80% AMI.
29) Improving process so that buyers can have a letter of commitment for funds prior to executing a purchase agreement.
30) Increase education/wrap-around services through nonprofit partners. •
31) A 4-plex homeownership program.
32) The production of senior units that will give people options to move out of their single-family homes, thus freeing up houses for larger families.
*Who qualifies for affordable housing?
For 2018, the affordability limit is 80% of the area median income for both rental and ownership housing. In 2018, the area median income (AMI) for a household of four is $94,300. Under these limits, a family of four can earn up to $71,900 to qualify for affordable housing. To implement the Livable Communities Act in 2018, the Council will use the following amounts as the upper limits for affordable rental and ownership housing.
Rental housing.
Rents include tenant-paid utilities.
2018 Rental Housing
# Bedrooms 30% AMI 50% AMI 60% AMI 80% AMI
Efficiency $495 $826 $991 $1,321
1 Bedroom $531 $885 $1,062 $1,416
2 Bedrooms $636 $1,061 $1,273 $1,697
3 Bedrooms $735 $1,226 $1,471 $1,961
4 Bedroom $820 $1,367 $1,640 $2,187
Ownership housing
For owner-occupied housing, the income limit includes principal, interest, property taxes and home insurance.
Assumptions include:
Fixed-interest, 30-year home loan
Interest rate of 5.125%
A 29% housing debt-to-household income ratio
A 3.5% down payment
A property tax rate of 1.25% of the property sales price
Mortgage insurance at 0.85% of unpaid principal
$100/month for hazard insurance
2018 Home Ownership
Household Income Affordable Home Price
80% AMI ($68,000) $236,000
60% AMI ($54,240) $185,000
50% AMI ($45,200) $151,500
30% AMI ($27,100) $85,000
Frey can’t yet guarantee that his budget proposal will include the $50 million to fund all these projects. He will also have to work with the 13 members of City Council to put these plans into action. The City Council is the body that passes these policies.

Hamas Storms Israeli Borders on Jerusalem Day.

Infuriated Palestinians, led by Hamas, hurled stones, bottle rockets and planted bombs as the US opened its embassy in Jerusalem. The mass riots, led by Gaza's Islamist rulers, Hamas, are part of a six-week protest dubbed the "Great March of Return" as tens of thousands of Palestinians marched on the border with Gaza. Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) thwarted an attempted terror attack on when three armed Palestinians laid an explosive device near Rafah on the Gaza-Israel border. Soldiers fired and killed the three perpetrators.
At least 41 Palestinians have been killed and 1,800 wounded by Israeli troops, Palestinian officials say. In addition, an IDF plane targeted a Hamas outpost in the Jabaliya area of the Gaza Strip after identifying it as the source of gunfire at IDF troops.
Those on the ground say Hama’s plan today is to create so much violence on the Gaza border, and such a dangerous situation for Israel, that the IDF is forced to respond with lethal force. Hamas is intentionally trying to get civilians in Gaza killed so that there is more anger towards Israel. Gaza is using children as human shields and paying $1000 to every Palestinian who tries to breach the Gaza border with Israel and murder Israelis as they often do. The media wants you to think the "Great March of Return" is a human rights protest and that the rioters are innocent, but it is literally state-sponsored terrorism. Maybe the Palestinians should stop storming the borders of a sovereign nation. Israel has every right to defend its borders. If they were storming the borders of Iran or China, the media would not be defending the Palestinians. Palestinians NEED TO RECOGNIZE THE STATE OF ISRAEL AND ITS RIGHT TO EXIST.
“Hamas and those leading the demonstrations in Gaza must ensure that they remain strictly non-violent and must not exploit them for other means. Any further escalation of an already extremely tense and complex situation would cause again further unspeakable sufferings to both peoples, and will make the perspective of peace and security even more remote. In this moment, wisdom and courage would be needed to go back to negotiations for a political solution, for the sake both of the Israeli and the Palestinian people, and the entire region,” the European Union said.
When will the Palestinians hold Hamas accountable? Hamas says the “Great March of Return” is financed by small donations and governed by a central committee of about 27 seats populated by representatives from some 18 political and civil society groups — including the dominant West Bank political party Fatah, as well as Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad, both of which are recognized by the U.S. as terrorist organizations.

The Jerusalem Embassy Act of 1995 (to move the embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem) is a public law of the United States and was passed by the 104th Congress on October 23, 1995, adopted by the Senate (93–5) and the House (374–37). Sounds pretty bipartisan to me.
That's the official US policy. Passed by both houses of Congress with overwhelming bipartisan support. And, in true political fashion, deferred every 6 months for the last 20 years - until now - when Trump finally followed through and Democrats boycotted the event.
Presidents Clinton, Obama and Bush all promised to move the US Embassy to Jerusalem and follow the LAW. No one actually had the balls to do it, except President Trump. Truth.

I AM SO SICK OF THE MEDIA PAINTING THE PALESTINIANS AS THE VICTIMS HERE AND ISRAEL AS THE EVIL JEWISH WHITE SUPREMACISTS! TOTAL BS.
The first Jewish Temple was built on the Temple Mount in 1000 BC, 1,600 years before Muhammed was even born! All other religions preceded Islam by 600-2,600 years. Muhammed invented the monotheist cult of Islam to terrorize the world, invade nations and steal land. The biggest con ever perpetrated on mankind. It continues today. How stupid are we?

Somali Muslims in Minnesota. A Conversation.

Yesterday, I had long social media conversations with two Somali Muslim gentlemen from Minneapolis, Minnesota. I asked them about their goals for improving Minnesota and how they feel about being an American. I also asked them about the million dollar upgrade at Cedar Riverside public housing that Mayor Jacob Frey promised its majority Somali residents this week. After I was called a racist, a fascist, a bigot, stupid and old, here's what else they shared with me. Nearly verbatim. Thoughts?
"Get with the program, miss. We are here to stay. We never left our Somali heritage or culture. That's what America is missing. Please stop forcing us to your ways. You’re old and have very old ideas. Get with the program. I’m trying to have my son to be the first Muslim black governor of the state of Minnesota in next 20 years. He’s gonna run as a Democrat. Oh, and on those upgrades at Cedar Riverside. They better give us those upgrades and changes if the Mayor wants to earn our votes. Or else we can always get another Mayor next time around. You see how being an American works? I told you lady please get with the program because Somalis are the latest addition to black folks."
"Why should we assimilate? Do you know how stupid you sound? Guess what? We're here to stay and will transform America for the better. Get that through your thick, ignorant skull. You need to see a doctor. It's inevitable that Somalis will be taking over and there isn't anything you can do about it. Again, what's wrong with Somalis taking over? It is inevitable! This land doesn't belong to either of us. It is our time to populate it and rule it. Go back to Europe or wherever you're from if you don't like it."
I'd like to know who is teaching these young men to think this way. Who are the leaders in the Somali Muslim community pushing for the takeover of America? These boys didn't come up with this themselves. They were taught. This must stop.
Here's another important conversation from today:
Q: Peggy, politics aside, Cedar Riverside needs an upgrade for Humanitarian reasons. Somali Leaders Bihi and Fafumo Yousef, in good faith, asked the GOP for help in deradicalizing youth. Will you contact and support them? #MinnesotaLibertyAlliance
A: What do you mean the Somali leaders need help "deradicalizing" Somali youth? How is SPENDING ONE MILLION DOLLARS TO put up a 6 foot fence around Cedar Riverside and security cameras going to help "deradicalize" Somali youth? President Obama brought Abdi Warsame here to bring would-be terrorist boys to Minnesota so we could "reprogram" them with Minnesota nice guinea pigs. Part of his "Countering Violent Extremism" Program (CVE). IT DIDN'T WORK. So, Minneapolis taxpayers are GOING TO PAY ONE MILLION DOLLARS MORE to keep violent Somali youth from attacking older Somalis at Cedar Riverside? What the heck is going on? I'm sorry the elders fear their own radicalized youth but this is not a fix to a larger problem. We need to STOP THE PEOPLE WHO ARE RADICALIZING THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Stormy Daniels' Lawyer Is Connected and Corrupt

You're gonna wanna read this twice.
Michael Avenatti is Stormy Daniels' lawyer. He took over her case in January 2018 after she signed a 5th document that stated she NEVER slept with Trump. He convinced her that she really did sleep with Trump and there was much money to be made in fake news.
Avenatti is CNN's new talking head. He's appeared on CNN 65 times in the past two months. Now, based only on a tweet from the insanely partisan Michael Avenatti, NBC News chose to light the world on fire with this bombshell headline: “Daniels’ lawyer: Cohen got $500K from Russian oligarch Viktor Vekselberg.“
The implication, of course, is that it was actually a Russian oligarch, with close ties to Putin, who paid the $130,000 to silence Stormy so Trump could become President and turn the White House over to the Kremlin.
Avenatti tweeted, “After significant investigation, we have discovered that Mr. Trump’s atty Mr. Cohen received approximately $500,000 in the mos. after the election from a company controlled by a Russian Oligarch with close ties to Mr. Putin. These monies may have reimbursed the $130k payment.”
And NBC News ran wild, free, and naked with it, and the rest of the fake news media dutifully trotted right along. Later, NBC admitted that Avenatti provided no DOCUMENTATION for his claims. Except…here's the problem. They already published the lie. Nobody reads the correction.
There is no proof that the “company controlled by a Russian Oligarch with close ties to Mr. Putin” is indeed a “company controlled by a Russian Oligarch with close ties to Mr. Putin.” The company in question, Columbus Nova, is an American company. One of its biggest clients is Viktor Vekselberg, a Russian oligarch with ties to Putin, which means, wait for it, nothing. All kinds of big American corporations have ties to monied foreigners, including Russians. In a statement, an attorney for Columbus Nova said the management firm is owned and controlled by Americans, not Viktor Vekselberg.
Here is a list of some of the other companies that paid Michael Cohen’s firm Essential Consultants: AT&T, Novartis Investments S.A.R.L. (a multinational pharmaceutical company in Switzerland), and Korea Aerospace Industries. Are we honestly supposed to believe that, through Cohen, a multi-billionaire like Trump would let a Russian oligarch pay the $130,000 for Stormy’s non-disclosure agreement just as the media was heating up its Russia hoax? It seems preposterous that Michael Cohen would accept a nickel from any Russian knowing the collusion investigation was underway. I mean, who would do that? I have no idea what Mr. Cohen did or did not do, but odds are the Russian money story is fiction. Is AT&T colluding with the Russians and Trump? How about Korea Aerospace Industries? I think not.
According to the New York Times, the Russian oligarch in question, Viktor Vekselberg, is “one of seven Kremlin-linked oligarchs hit with sanctions in April by the Trump administration, which also imposed the penalties on the Renova Group.” Hmm. Wait. So Trump slapped heavy sanctions on the Russian company he is supposedly colluding with to silence a rogue porn star?
The Renova Group is Vekselberg’s company. So we are also supposed to believe that an American company is secretly controlled by a Russian oligarch who used Cohen’s consulting firm as a slush fund to make a $130,000 payment as a means to grab hold of the puppet strings of a multi-billionaire who just won the presidency. Moreover, we are supposed to believe that Trump responded to this payoff by singling his oligarch out with brutal personal and business sanctions. Andrew Intrater, the CEO of Columbus Nova, is the cousin to Vekselberg, and Trump still slapped him with sanctions.
The Times also reports that AT&T and the actual company in question, Columbus Nova, prematurely pulled out of their respective deals with Cohen “after it yielded a few investment ideas but no actual deals.”
Trump is hitting Russia, Russian businesses, and Russian oligarchs with sanctions. What’s more, Trump is defying Putin in Syria, in the Crimea, and by exiting the Iran Deal. Basically, Trump is poking his finger in Russia’s eye much harder than Obama ever did, and still the media conspiracy theorists want us to believe that Russia is sitting on a goldmine of incriminating and compromising material against Trump — from peepee tapes to secret porn star payoffs — and they are not using it.
All we learned from this story is that, from AT&T to Columbus Nova, paying Trump’s personal attorney got these companies nowhere. In a sane world that would be considered a good thing.
Now, let's talk about who Avenatti really is. Using a porn star’s lawyer as an assignment editor might be an all-new kind of low for the American media, even CNN, but watching it blow up in the media’s ridiculous faces is nothing less than glorious.
Guess who Stormy Daniels' attorney, Michael Avenatti, is associated with? Stormy Daniels' attorney, Michael Avenatti, is not only a Democratic operative who has worked for Joe Biden and Rahm Emanuel, he also works with the multi-billionaire rogue Saudi Prince who hates President Trump, and pays off our media and politicians to ignore and whitewash the threat of radical Islam.
In 2015, Avenatti teamed at the 24 Hours of LeMans with Saudi Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Saud and Jakub Giermaziak of Poland in the No. 66 JMW Motorsport Ferrari 458 Italia. Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Saud was born in Los Angeles, raised in Riyadh and educated in Saudi Arabia, United States and the United Kingdom. He is a member of the Saudi Royal Family, grandson of late King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia and a NEPHEW of the international business leader, Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal, the guy who hates Trump.
Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal is the "dopey Prince" that President Trump declared he was going to stop from using his Daddy's money to take over the United States and buy off our politicians and media. Prince Al-Waleed told Trump he would never win!
Not to mention, Avenatti owes $5 million plus in federal back taxes. He needs cash. Just like Stormy Daniels.
BREAKING: The inspector general of the Treasury Department has launched an investigation into whether or not confidential banking records were improperly leaked to Avenatti. The counsel to the inspector general, Rich Delmar, said his office is currently “inquiring into allegations” that Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) related to the president’s attorney, Michael Cohen, and his banking transactions were “improperly” disclosed to Avenatti. The law dictates that banks must file a SAR for any transaction considered unusual that is over $10,000. What Avenatti made public Tuesday could have included a SAR Cohen’s bank filed.

The Rise of Hitler.

During the hyperinflation in Germany of the 1920s, the country's currency, the mark, went crazy. Money became worthless. Hundreds of thousands of Germans starved to death. Just like what's happening today in Socialist Venezuela. The stupid ones were those who had nest eggs: the thrifty, holders of government bonds, but primarily the country's pensioners. Large sections of the middle classes saw themselves stripped of their assets, losing almost everything they had set aside for years. Banks, savings banks, and insurance companies suffered huge losses and were left with nothing but their paper money. As a result, they had to start the majority of their businesses over from scratch. It's an era that is still part of the national psyche today in Germany. This is how Adolf Hitler came to power. He promised to save the Germans who were losing everything and were starving to death in the 20's. He painted the Jews as the villian, and used them as a scapegoat, and the root of all the world's problems. As has been done for 2,000 years. He aligned himself with the Muslim world to spread hate against Jews in the name of saving the German people. I don't understand why nobody is ever told this part of the story.
If one word could describe Germany, in 1919, during the immediate aftermath of World War I, it would be "starvation." Even after an armistice ended World War I, the victors continued a devastating blockade of Germany. While some 900,000 German men, women and children were starving to death, the American and British public knew nothing about it, deliberately caused by the continuation of a wartime British naval blockade. Britain's post-war naval blockade of food to Germany in 1919 matched the then current blockade of news by the American and British press. Even today, only a few non-Germans know the truth, and American and British historians, for the most part, have participated in the coverup of this most appalling crime. The guilt of the world press in covering up the atrocity is compounded by the fact that the American and British public were told of the starvation itself, but were kept ignorant of the policies of the Allies which produced it.
Newspapers carried stories of relief efforts to rescue the starving. The most famed of these efforts was directed by Herbert Hoover, later to become the 31st president. John Maynard Keynes wrote about Herbert Hoover's mission to help the starving in Germany:
"You think this is a kindergarten for the little ones. No, these are children of seven and eight years. Tiny faces, with large, dull eyes, overshadowed by huge puffed, rickety foreheads, their small arms just skin and bones, and above the crooked legs with their dislocated joints the swollen, pointed stomachs of the hunger edema. "You see this child here," the physician in charge explained, "it consumed an incredible amount of bread, and yet it did not get any stronger. I found out that it hid all the bread it received underneath its straw mattress. The fear of hunger was so deeply rooted in the child that it collected the stores instead of eating the food: a misguided animal instinct made the dread of hunger worse than the actual pangs. Meanwhile, elderly German women search through piles of garbage for something to eat in Berlin in 1919."
Meanwhile, the armistice terms dictated by the Allies at Versailles would assure that Germany could not recover economically even to the point of providing a subsistence livelihood for the majority of its citizens. France was to get Alsace-Lorraine outright; she would occupy all German territory west of the Rhine for 15 years and she would take possession of the rich coal mines of the Saar district, which was to be governed by the League of Nations. Poland would get the important industrial region of Upper Silesia, most of Posen Province and West Prussia, thus establishing a "Polish Corridor" to the sea and cutting off East Prussia from the rest of Germany. Denmark and Belgium would slice off several border regions and the League of Nations would take charge of Germany's African colonies. If Germany did not sign, the Allies were ready to invade and occupy the country. After a number of resignations, the German government at Weimar agreed to the "unheard-of injustice" of the Treaty of Versailles.1
Immediately following the war, Germany was wracked with insurgencies, coups and counter-coups. The Bolsheviks attempted a takeover similar to the revolution in Russia. The Allies, meeting in Versailles, celebrated the unrest and destruction. And the people - particularly the American people - were kept in the dark about the continuing blockade. Communist agents, sent by the Bolshevik regime in the fledgling USSR, were fomenting revolutions throughout the prostrate country.
"Hitler was born at Versailles. While the murder of defenseless civilians was carried out in Bavaria, the delegates at the Paris Peace Conference had their first meeting. Far from being horrified at such massacres, the Allies could not contain their glee. The Bavarian bloodbath was a gift from the gods, which meant that Germany would be split and more Germans would be killed. They offered food and money to bolster their opposition to Berlin. Although the war had ended, Germany was still under Allied blockade, which was ruthlessly enforced. The first state of Germany to benefit from a lifting of the blockade would be communist-controlled Bavaria."
"The Allied peace terms turned out to be extremely severe, far exceeding the worst fears of the German government. The peace treaties of Brest-Litovsk and Bucharest were declared invalid and the food blockade around Germany was to continue. Thus Germany's capitulation was accomplished and an end set to four years of enormous bloodshed. The effectiveness of the blockade, initiated years before the entry of the United States into the war, and which led to the sinking of the Lusitania, has been well documented."
"It was the blockade that finally drove the Central Powers to accept defeat. At first mild in its application, the blockade's noose gradually tightened until, with the American entry, all restraint was cast aside. Increasingly deprived of the means to wage war, or even to feed her population, the violent response was insurrection; apathy and demoralization the mute consequence of dashed hopes and thin potato soup."
Berliners exchanged potato peelings for firewood. Soup kitchens were everywhere. As the grip of the Allied blockade tightened, waste materials became valuable commodities to be processed and reused. The Allies clearly intended to starve the German people to death, foreshadowing the Morgenthau Plan of the latter days of World War II - a plan that actually went into operation to starve and exterminate one third of the German population.
After confiscating the German merchant navy, the Allies proceeded to confiscate German private property all over the world, contrary to all precedent from previous wars when private property had been held in escrow until the ratification of peace treaties, when it would revert to its legitimate owners. The Allied powers reserved the right to keep or dispose of assets belonging to German citizens, including companies they control. This wholesale expropriation would take place without any compensation to the owners. And, Germany remained responsible for the liabilities and loans on the assets that were taken from them. Profits, however, remained in the hands of the Allies. Thus, private German property and assets were confiscated in China, Thailand, Egypt, Liberia, and in many other countries.
Germany was also precluded from investing capital in any neighboring country and had to forfeit all rights "to whatever title it may possess in these countries." The Allies were given free access to the German marketplace without the slightest tariff while products made in Germany faced high foreign tariff barriers. As Germany was experiencing near famine conditions. It was at this moment the Allies decided to confiscate a substantial part of what was left of Germany's livestock.
"The Germans were made to deliver cattle, horses, sheep, goats. A strong protest came from Germany when dairy cows were taken to France and Belgium, thus depriving German children of milk. Food shortages were such that 60,000 Ruhr miners refused to work overtime unless they were paid, even in the form of butter. When it became obvious that Germany would not be able to deliver the coal ordered by the treaty, the Allies lowered the amount from 43 million tons to 20 million tons. The virtual confiscation of German coal production led to the deaths of German children for lack of fuel for heat."
In his biography of Woodrow Wilson, Arthur Walworth says that the British command in Germany reported that food shortages raised a specter of anarchy.
"Herbert Hoover, who had gone abroad after the armistice eager to use American surpluses to feed the hungry of Europe, soon had found that the idealistic professions of individuals at London and Paris did not square with their actions as officials of electorates that were swayed by war hatred and economic necessity. Shipments had been delivered to Allies and to neutrals, but British officials had refused to break their blockade to let cargoes go into Germany. Moreover, Germany had failed to act on an agreement to turn over merchant ships before receiving food and showed no desire to pay for shipments in gold - a possibility that French financiers were thought to be opposing so that their nation might get what gold there was as indemnity.
There is evidence that Wilson actually thought the European powers would accept his "14 Points" and feed starving Germans now that the war was over. But, of course, that was not the case as discovered by Wilson's humanitarian point man, Hoover. England's Lloyd George, meanwhile, thought that the starvation was being ameliorated. He favored - although quietly - feeding his ex-enemy.
Frustrated by apathy and obstruction, Hoover was brought on the carpet by [British Prime Minister] Lloyd George, who was inclined to brush him off as 'that Salvation Army man.' The prime minister, distressed by reports of famine in Germany, wanted to know why Hoover had not done his job. At this the American let him have the bitter truth. Lloyd George, feeling that tact was not one of Hoover's great qualities, asked him to give the council an expurgated version of his remarks. This was done, and a stormy and wordy session ensued."
The food blockade was not terminated until July 12, 1919. On May 7 of that year, Count von Brockdorf-Rantzau had indignantly referred to this fact in addressing the Versailles assembly. "The hundreds of thousands of noncombatants," the German chief delegate had stated, "who have perished since November 11, 1918, as a result of the blockade, were killed with cold deliberation, after our enemies had been assured of their complete victory."
The murderous Allied blockade, which continued for eight months after the end of the war, was one reason why a German war veteran who decided to go into politics a decade later was able to revive the seared memory of a German nation which had suffered greatly and vault himself to absolute power. His name, of course, was Adolf Hitler.
From 1922-1923, hyperinflation plagued Germany and helped fuel the eventual rise of Adolf Hitler. You could say journalist Eugeni Xammar had a stroke of reporter's luck when the Barcelona daily La Veu de Catalunya sent him to Berlin in the fall of 1922, a pivotal moment in the country's history. In the months that followed, it was the most exciting place in the world to report from. Germany's financial structures collapsed, and the mark began its descent into near worthlessness.
"The price of tram rides and beef, theater tickets and school, newspapers and haircuts, sugar and bacon, is going up every week," Xammar wrote in February 1923. "As a result no one knows how long their money will last, and people are living in constant fear, thinking of nothing but eating and drinking, buying and selling. There is only one topic on everyone's lips in Berlin: the dollar, the mark, and prices. Have you seen this? For heaven's sake, stop! I've just bought a six-week supply of sausages, ham, and cheese."
Nearly every day the journalist sent home new stories of the hyperinflation he was witnessing; reports of everyday insanity in a country whose currency was going crazy. In 1914, at the start of World War I, the dollar was worth 4.20 marks. From then on the German currency steadily declined, and in the fall of 1922 it went into freefall. By November 1923 the dollar was at 4.2 trillion marks. The nightmare came to an end shortly thereafter, and the dollar was back at 4.20 again, albeit against the new incarnation of the currency: the rentenmark.
Few people understood what had happened. Even today, three generations later, much of it sounds pretty incredible. Take for example the family that sold its house to emigrate to America. On arrival at the port of Hamburg, they found that the money wasn't enough to pay for their crossing -- in fact, it didn't even pay for their tickets back home. Then there was the man who drank two cups of coffee at 5,000 marks each, only to be presented with a bill for 14,000. When he asked why this was he was told he should have ordered the coffees at the same time because the price had gone up in between. And then there's the story about the couple that took a few hundred million marks to the theater box office hoping to see a show, but discovered it wasn't nearly enough. Tickets were now a billion marks each.
At the height of the crisis, the inflation rate was in the tens of thousands -- per month, that is. And this in the era before the invention of the pocket calculator.
"The effect of the devaluation of the German currency was like that of a second revolution, the first being the war and its immediate aftermath. Deep-seated faith was being destroyed and replaced by fear and cynicism. What was there to trust, who could you rely on if such were even possible?"
It is true to say that nothing seemed safe anymore -- all semblance of order went out of the window, and with it faith in the Weimar Republic, in democracy, indeed in the future itself. After all, what was there to look forward to? Most people had seen their life savings wiped out while the state was able to shrug off its debts. "Inflation took the basic law-and-order principles of loyalty and trust to the extreme."
The hyperinflation left behind a national trauma that can be felt to this day. The experiences of 1923 have etched themselves into the German psyche. Fear of inflation is widespread, and German economists feel more duty-bound than others to vouchsafe economic stability.
But did it all really have to go so far? Could the catastrophe have been averted? And if so, how? The seeds of the problem were sown many years earlier. Indeed the ball was first set in motion by World War I, during which Germany spent an estimated 160 billion marks on its men and machinery; an unimaginably large sum. The only way the state could finance this was to acquire money by unconventional means.
On August 4, 1914, just three days after the Reich had declared war on Russia, parliament passed a series of currency acts that would have a fundamental impact on the country's money markets. The new legislation suspended the standard of backing cash with gold "until further notice," claiming that an "exceptional increase in unbacked paper notes" was an "economic necessity" in times of war. In other words, the Reich intended to pay for its war effort by printing more and more money.
The sheer volume of banknotes increased dramatically. Whereas there were just 13 billion marks in circulation in 1913, this had jumped to 60 billion by the end of the war. Unfortunately this still wasn't enough to cover the state's expenditures. "As things stand, the only way to finance the cost of fighting the war is to shift the burden into the future through loans," economist Karl Helfferich said in 1915.
The Reich thus racked up huge debts with its own people, repeatedly issuing government bonds; a total of almost 100 billion marks in all. At first Germans bought these bonds almost unthinkingly, secure in the belief that victory was in sight. The national debt shot up from 5 to 156 billion marks.
"There is a point at which printing money affects purchasing power by causing inflation," warned socialist Eduard Bernstein in 1918. But his words and those of others went unheeded. The mountain of bank notes continued to grow, while the volume of goods gradually declined.
It was a classic constellation. Too much money and too few goods could lead to only one thing: Inflation. A government decree setting a maximum price for important consumables such as grain and coal didn't help either. Such artificial limits simply dammed up inflation, causing the liquidity glut to flood the market with even greater devastation when the economy collapsed after the end of the war.
So although the Weimar Republic was not bankrupt from the outset, its creditworthiness was restricted, and inflation saddled the fledgling state with a congenital defect that would have dire consequences.
Ironically, the monetary depreciation in its milder form initially helped stimulate the economy. With its comparatively low value against the dollar, sterling and the French franc, the cheap mark boosted German exports in the early days of the Weimar Republic. Industrial output increased by 20 percent within a year, unemployment fell to below 1 percent in 1922, and real wages rose significantly. The "lubricant of inflation," as economic historian Carl-Ludwig Holtfrerich put it, breathed new life into the private sector.
The post-war boom was all the more remarkable because the rest of the world economy was sinking into a deep recession. The United States and Britain stabilized their currencies even though it put up to a fifth of their respective working population out of work. The governments of the Weimar Republic took the opposite approach, buying themselves an economic upswing and full employment at the cost of catapulting the mark to dizzying heights. Although it would probably be unfair to suggest the politicians in Berlin deliberately drove inflation forward, they didn't exactly try very hard to rein it in. For a while the strategy proved convenient. But they were playing with fire, as soon became apparent.
The huge budget deficit and growing interest payments restricted the state's freedom of movement considerably. The enormous war reparations that Germany had been saddled with were especially hard on the young republic.
Even before the final figure had been agreed upon, German delegates at the 1919 Paris Peace Conference complained that the proposed reparations would "crush all creative urges, the will to work and all entrepreneurial spirit in Germany forever." However, the row over the size of the reparations only broke out in earnest later.
In 1921, the Allies set Germany's reparations at 132 billion goldmarks (pegged at the value of the mark in 1913). From then until 1932 an estimated 26 billion goldmarks was paid out in cash and goods, corresponding to an annual 10 percent of national income. In other words, although the burden was considerable, it was more-or-less affordable.
It was less the size of its reparations than continued uncertainty about them that destabilized the Weimar economy. The mood was especially vitriolic within the Reparations Commission, with the French --- keen to exact revenge for their military defeat in 1871 -- proving completely intransigent.
It therefore took just a relatively minor delay in the delivery of wood, coal and telegraph poles to escalate the conflict, and in January 1923 France marched 100,000 soldiers into Germany's Ruhr valley, seized control of the mines, and confiscated the coal. "This was a fatal blow to German industrial production," Holtfrerich says.
An entire region ground to a halt, and an important source of tax revenues dried up. Because the Ruhr valley was no longer permitted to deliver coal, Germany was forced to obtain its fuel elsewhere -- often from abroad at great cost, depleting its much-needed foreign currency reserves.
At the same time, millions of Germans were living in abject poverty. "Never in my life have I seen such swarms of starving people wandering about," wrote Franz Geyer, the future mayor of the Ruhr valley city of Bochum. Many young children suffered from deficiency diseases such as rickets, and at times tuberculosis reached almost epidemic proportions. In Mannheim, lung disease was reported in 43 families in one 220-household street alone.
Public opinion was unanimous as to the source of this misery, pinning the blame for all Germany's woes firmly on France and its uncompromising stance. As bitterness turned into open resistance, shopkeepers refused to serve French people, and Germans crossed the street to avoid meeting Frenchmen.
"The enemy is among us," wrote the Hildesheimer Allgemeine newspaper, appalled at the occupation of the Ruhr. "He has crept into the heart of the German economy to suck out our life-blood and destroy our very existence as a nation." A 10,000-mark note issued the year before was nicknamed the "vampire bill" because it depicted a man who appeared to have a bite-mark on his neck.
But the vertiginous descent of the mark began in 1922, before the French occupied the Ruhr -- and the drama took its course. Creeping inflation (i.e. currency devaluation of up to 50 percent a year) gave way to galloping inflation (more than 50 percent a year) and eventually became hyperinflation (more than 50 percent a month), and with it the state lost all financial control.
The depreciation of the mark can hardly be explained in terms of quantifiable causes. As so often in economics, expectations played a decisive role. The nerve-wracking wrangling over Germany's reparations had completely undermined faith in the country's economic prospects. Holtfrerich believes the hyperinflation could not have come about without a "collapse in faith in the currency" which in turn prompted a slump in "expectations about the future development of the internal and external value of the mark."
One clear sign of this lack of faith was the almost overnight retreat by foreign creditors from the German money market, selling their government bonds on a massive scale as they went.
By the time German Foreign Minister Walter Rathenau was assassinated on June 22, 1922, all hope of a return to economic stability had been lost. And yet the exchange rate didn't go into freefall until the early summer of the following year. The mark had now forfeited all three of the functions that characterized a currency: It served as neither a mathematical unit nor a form of payment -- let alone as a tool for preserving value. "The mark was already dead in the water in October 1922," observed historian Helmut Kerstingjohänner.
In December 1922, the dollar was still worth 2,000 marks. Within four months this had jumped to 20,000 marks, and by August 1923 it stood at more than a million. The Weimar Republic was "teetering on the edge of the abyss," as the then Interior Minister Wilhelm Sollmann put it. "Even the most courageous among us must get dizzy in light of the fragility of the bridge and the distance to the safety of the far shore," he said.
In addition to the state printing office, more than 130 companies were commissioned to print banknotes, and as long as paper was readily available a total of 1,783 presses churned out the nation's bills. Employees brought rucksacks to work on payday to stash their money - and then spent it immediately.
At the Junkers plant in Dessau the company gave its workers the equivalent of the day's price of three-and-a-half loaves of bread at 9am every morning. Their wives, who were waiting at the factory gates, took the money and dashed off to the shops before the new dollar exchange rate was published at around midday.
Many doctors insisted on being paid not in cash but sausages, eggs, coal, and the like. Because of the constant increase in prices, shops stopped displaying them in their windows. And when the Prussian authorities forced them to do so nonetheless, it drove prices even higher because traders simply took prospective increases into account.
Even cremation became too expense for many because the price was pegged to that of coal. So the dead were buried in the conventional manner again. But here too there were opportunities to cut costs, and a 50 centimeter-high coffin dubbed the "nose-squasher" proved particularly popular.
People lived in a strange kind of tension. On the one hand there was the daily fight for survival, for food, and for heating fuel. "If we more-or-less manage to prevent the city of Cologne from collapsing completely, I shall get down on my knees and thank my Maker," the city's mayor, Konrad Adenauer, said.
Bizarrely enough, goods were no longer in short supply. There was simply no stable currency to buy them with. As the later Chancellor Hans Luther noted in 1923, Germany threatened to "starve with full barns."
On the other hand it was also a time of phenomenal wastefulness. The people were gripped by the urge to panic-buy. They squandered their money, and lived from one day to the next. "We're drinking away Grandma's house" proclaimed one popular tune of the day.
The only objects of real value were tangible assets: diamonds and coins, antiques, pianos and art. The works of contemporary artists like Lyonel Feininger, Paul Klee, Max Pechstein and Karl Schmidt-Rottluff were in especially high demand. And if you had foreign currency, you lived like a king.
One senior mail inspector gained notoriety when it was revealed he had intercepted letters containing foreign banknotes: 1,717 dollars, 1,102 Swiss francs, and 114 French francs - enough to buy two houses for himself and a piano for a friend, with enough left over for an indulgence-like donation to the church.
In fact petty crime in general increased in leaps and bounds. Potato fields were plundered, bakeries raided, shop windows smashed. Prices weren't the only thing that went out of control. All values seemed to have been corrupted. Dance halls and strip bars opened up in the cities, and cocaine sales skyrocketed. People lived as if there were no tomorrow. Economist Joseph Schumpeter noted the "disorganizing effects of the collapsing currency on the national character, on morals, and all branches of cultural life."
Given that the mark had been discredited, many cities and even companies began creating their own currencies and printing emergency money. One firm in southern Germany issued a 50,000-mark bill featuring the clever aphorism "If coal is even more expensive, feel free to use me as fuel."
It was clear a radical monetary change was needed to halt the permanent depreciation and return to a more ordered state of affairs. In mid-November 1923 the government began issuing rentenmarks, claiming the new currency was backed by mortgages on industrial and agricultural land. This was of course fictitious. If push came to shove, no industrialist or farmer would have agreed to exchange his land for money. But after years of nerve-racking inflation the German people were so desperate for stability they were prepared to trust the new currency unquestioningly.
History may hail "the miracle of the rentenmark," but in reality it constituted an admission that the German Reich was bankrupt. And as always, it was the populace that picked up the tab.
The stupid ones were those who had nest eggs: the thrifty, holders of government bonds, but primarily the country's pensioners. In other words, those who received money without having to work for it, who lived on their pensions or the interest on their savings. Large sections of the middle classes saw themselves stripped of their assets, losing almost everything they had set aside for years. Banks, savings banks, and insurance companies suffered huge losses and were left with nothing but their paper money. As a result, they had to start the majority of their businesses from scratch in 1924.
By perverse contrast, the winners of the hyperinflation were those with massive debts; first and foremost the state, but also private individuals who had borrowed money to buy houses, construction land or farmland, and whose loans were slashed by the switch to the rentenmark.
Some industrialists made huge gains from the period of hyperinflation. Hugo Stinnes, whom Time magazine crowned "Germany's new Kaiser," built up an immense corporate empire comprising heavy industry, newspapers, ships and hotels -- all based on a mountain of debt. As late as the summer of 1922, Stinnes was recommending that people continue capitalizing on "the weapon of inflation." Indeed manufacturers and craftsmen in general profited from the crisis since they possessed plants and buildings -- that is, tangible assets that outlived the currency switch.
Most farmers also did extremely well. "They had money to burn, and spent it willy-nilly," writer Lion Feuchtwanger recalled. Some bought themselves entire stables of racehorses, others expensive cars. "Farmer Greindlberger drove from the grimy village street of Englschalking to Munich in an elegant limousine complete with a liveried chauffeur, while he himself was dressed in a brown velvet jacket and a green chamois-tufted hat," Feuchtwanger wrote of the rural rich.
Never before had Germany witnessed such a fundamental redistribution of wealth, and many of the winners were those who had previously been wealthy.
Much should have been done differently between 1914 and 1924 to avoid this disaster. Firstly, Germany should have had more powerful institutions, namely governments backed by the people that placed greater emphasis on prudent budgeting and could have reached a better deal with the Allies. At the same time foreign countries -- especially France -- should have been more sensitive to deeply indebted Germany's needs and taken greater account of the predicament it was in. Most importantly, however, the Allies should have been clearer about the size of Germany's war reparations much sooner. In the absence of this, the Reich descended into a kind of fiscal anarchy.
Disillusioned, many Germans chose to withdraw from the bitter reality of their lives, and simply left the country. In 1923, the authorities counted three times as many emigrées as the year before. Some sought refuge in sects, others committed suicide. Millions more became radicalized.
It's no coincidence that Adolf Hitler's inexorable rise to power began in November 1923, the highpoint of Germany's inflation, when he organized the abortive Beer Hall Putsch in Munich.
Catalan Germany correspondent Eugeni Xammar witnessed the spectacle at close quarters, having recently conducted an interview with "the future ex-dictator of Germany." In this interview Hitler claimed the high cost of living was Germany's biggest problem, promising "We intend to make life cheaper." To this end he demanded that shops -- many of which were in Jewish hands -- be brought under state control. And he stressed, "We expect all kinds of miracles of these national stores."
The journalist from Barcelona wasn't shy about stating what he thought of his interviewee. Hitler was, Xammar wrote, "the stupidest person I have ever had the pleasure of meeting." Tragically, most Germans were soon to have a very different opinion of him.
